On Thursday, March 3rd at 7 pm, Dr. Henry Matthews, Professor Emeritus of Architectural History, will be lecturing at the University of Washington on Mimar Sinan’s brilliant structural concepts, and on his attention to human factors in the design of mosques and külliyes.

Dr. Matthews' recently published book, "Mosques of Istanbul, including the Mosques of Bursa and Edirne", presents a chronological history of the evolution of Ottoman Mosques. It also includes maps and itineraries. The author sheds light on Ottoman life and the patronage of Sultans, grand viziers and powerful women of the court.
