As some of you know, our president Yesim has recently decided to move to Chicago to pursue her graduate degree. We thank her for all of her valuable contributions to TACAWA and the Turkish American community so far, and wish her the best of luck and success in her new endeavors!
To adjust for this departure, the TACAWA Board has unanimously agreed to redistribute the director roles as follows:
Effective immediately, our current VP Levent Besik has stepped up to be the new President of TACAWA. Sevket Numanoglu is our new Vice-President and will continue to carry on some of his current social chair responsibilities in his new capacity. Our auxiliary member Selda Kement has officially joined our board to become the Acting Secretary while Jeanene Mitchell is on a short leave of absence for summer studies in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Last but not least, the board of directors has unanimously agreed to recommend and elect Merve Aktas to be a Special Appointed Director to serve as our new Social Chair. We’re very excited to have Merve and Selda join the Board, and wish them the best of success in their new roles!
