Thank you to all who have offered to volunteer for TACAWA events! We will be holding our first meeting on Saturday, April 24th at Cafe Paloma to discuss the launch of our first big umbrella project, “Café Turkiye,” which will be a diverse series of monthly roundtable events, ranging from providing ebru and cooking classes, organizing discussions with university professors, and offering information sessions for members of our community interested in traveling to Turkey. Please stay tuned for the meeting venue.

In honor of the April 23rd International Children's Day, TACAWA is organizing a children's festival featuring singing, dancing, and musical performances by Turkish children's groups, as well as groups representing other countries from around the world.

The event will be entirely run by children, and will feature the TACAWA Turkish Children's Choir, TACAWA Children's Band, Anadolu Youth Dancers, and other youth performance groups from within the Seattle community.

On Monday, April 26, the TACAWA Turkish Table will again be meeting back at Fainting Goat Gelato in Wallingford. Whether you are interested in learning or practicing Turkish, or are a native speaker, all are welcome for conversation and camaraderie!

Evren Artiran, an internationally recognized artist and University of Washington graduate student, will be featuring her latest work in an exhibit titled “Naturalized Dialogues” at the Sandpoint Gallery in Magnuson Park.

The opening reception will be held Wednesday, May 12th, from 5:30 to 9 pm, and the exhibition will run through Saturday, May 15th.

On the opening night, Evren will give a 5 minute performance as part of the whole exhibition. The performance, titled “Unnatural Distribution,” will loop every 20 minutes, at 5:55 pm, 6:20 pm, and 6:45 pm, for a total of 3 times.
